Where are tapered roller bearings used?

In many applications tapered roller bearings are used in back-to-back pairs so that axial forces can be supported equally in either direction. Pairs of tapered roller bearings are used in car and vehicle wheel bearings where they must cope simultaneously with large vertical (radial) and horizontal (axial) forces

Inch size tapered roller bearings have tapered raceways on the inner and outer rings and tapered rollers between the raceways. Tapered roller bearings are also composed of four basic components, cones, outer rings, tapered rollers and cages. If classified, tapered roller bearings can be divided into metric, inch, single, double, four-row tapered roller bearings.

Inch size tapered roller bearings are mainly used to withstand radial loads and axial combined loads. The axial load capacity of the bearing is determined by the contact angle. The larger the contact angle, the greater the ability of the axial load. Single row tapered roller bearings have clearance only after installation and can only be determined after another bearing in the opposite direction has been adjusted.

In the bearing, the axial displacement of one side of the shaft or the outer casing can be restricted, and the shaft is not allowed to be inclined with respect to the casing hole. Inch size tapered roller bearings generate additional axial forces under radial loads, so the outer and inner rings should be mounted opposite each other. The roller half cone angle is very important. In order to satisfy the wall thickness coefficient and other conditions, the design requires complicated calculations. Therefore, in terms of applications, transmissions, differentials, machine tool spindles, construction machinery, agricultural machinery, railway vehicles, etc. are all needed.
