On August 14, Dr. Zhang Yilin, CEO of Schaeffler China, and his delegation visited CITIC Pacific Special Steel Group, and the two sides signed a sustainable development goals agreement. The agreement is an important part of the strategic cooperation on sustainable development between the two sides. It further clarifies the cooperation content, relevant measures and development goals of the two sides in sustainable development from multiple dimensions such as carbon footprint reduction roadmap, energy use, environment and human rights.

In the future, the two sides will explore more diverse areas of cooperation, further strengthen cutting-edge technology exchanges, empower each other with technological innovation, and jointly expand the market. In the next step of cooperation, we hope that both parties will take projects as the starting point, establish a digital cooperation model, dig deep into the value behind the data, improve production efficiency, achieve effective cost reduction, and jointly promote the green, low-carbon, healthy and healthy development of the industrial chain.


Qian Gang said that CITIC Pacific Special Steel insists on "hard work on internal strength", continuously enhances soft and hard strengths, builds corporate resilience, and continues to grow and develop in the long-term cooperation with Schaeffler. Schaeffler Group plans to achieve climate neutrality in the supply chain by 2040, and take the lead in achieving climate neutrality in the production field by 2030. The emissions of intermediates and raw materials in the supply chain will be reduced by at least 25%. Suppliers play an important role in achieving this goal. To this end, while carrying out emission reduction for its own operations, Schaeffler continues to strengthen cooperation with suppliers, promotes and urges suppliers to carry out climate protection actions on the basis of compliance, and works with suppliers to build a sustainable supply chain.

In 2024, the green steel project jointly developed by Schaeffler and CITIC Pacific made significant progress - through the application of recycled steel and electric furnace technology, while ensuring product quality, the carbon intensity of steel was reduced by more than 50%, which is a key step in helping Schaeffler Group to reduce carbon emissions in Scope 3.
